Sun Damage

A major factor towards ageing skin is overexposure to sunlight. And it is inevitable – unless we are permanently wrapped – that some sun damage will occur.

It manifests itself in the form of sun spots, freckles, blemishes, and is caused by the increased production of melanin. This damage is well below the top layers of skin and cannot be be repaired by creams or moisturisers. To remove these lesions requires laser treatment.

The laser is a precision instrument, a light scalpel that burns out the unwanted lesion without damaging the surrounding skin. Treatment is fast, and to treat an area the size of the cheeks would take about five minutes. To treat the face would typically take twenty minutes. The sensation felt is similar to the sharp 'snap' of an elastic band.

After treatment, the lesion will look a little darker, then peel or fade over the next couple of weeks.

It will typically take a course of six treatments, two weeks apart, to notice significant results.
